Norwich High School Chapter of National Honor Society
National Honor Society (NHS) was formed in 1921 to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Sophomores and juniors who earn a 3.7 or higher GPA are eligible to apply for membership.
The application must be completed IN ITS ENTIRETY, or the application is null.
Please note, completing the application process does NOT guarantee membership. While a non-selected student may request a meeting with the prinicipal and sponsor, the decision of the faculty council will stand.
The faculty council, which consists of five Norwich School faculty members, will evaluate the application to determine eligibility. A rubric is used to score each of the four components described above. In order to be offered membership, a minimum score of twelve out of sixteen points must be earned, and each category must contain a minimum score of two points. Finally, a majority of the faculty council must vote the candidate in to the organization for membership.
